The paper aims to analyze the electrical and hybrid propulsion system of a ship. Small naval power systems, the advantages of using alternate current, the efficiency of electrically powered naval mechanisms, propulsion variants and the propulsion control system are analyzed. The recent trends of designing more efficient and more versatile ships will develop hybrid propulsion, ships architecture and the naval power system. Hybrid ships architectures, advanced equipment and control strategies can reduce fuel consumption and emissions to 10-35%, while reducing noise, maintenance, and increasing maneuverability and comfort. The aim is to improve the performance of hybrid systems and the development of strategies. So, a combination of torque, attack angle and Predictive Control Model with dynamic settings could improve the performance of these ships.
