Leather Area Measuring System

摘要

The measurement and registration of the area in the leather production is of great importance to the leather industry. The irregular shape, the different thickness and the color of the leather makes that task a challenge. The leather industry uses mechanical planimeters, and in recent years - also machines with photosensor and software working with DOS operating system. This paper presents the development of a machine, which measures the area of leather via a PLC module and a Windows based PC with a USB camera. A program was developed for both the PLC controller and the Windows PC system.
