This paper includes a brief review to the problem of human exposure to electromagnetic fields and the standards and regulations developed in order to protect people from the nonionizing radiations caused by electromagnetic fields with special interest to the 2004/40/CEE, 2008/46/EC and 2012/11/EU Directives in working environments. The measurements and techniques used to comply with regulations are described in detail and an example of a facility including a 420V, 1800 kW induction furnace with magnetic field leakage at the working frequency of 10 kHz is described.
