From the results of recent research, the coplanar electromagnetic band-gap (C-EBG) structure is regarded as a promising solution to cope with the problem of SSN over the GHz frequency range. However, if the C-EBG is adopted for the power/ground planes, problems of signal integrity may result from the high-speed signals passing over the EBG patterns because of the discontinuities of the etched reference plane. In order both to effectively minimize the effects of a discontinuous reference plane and to sufficiently suppress the propagation of noise, P/G plane structure with C-EBG pattern is proposed in this study. The proposed structure is validated and investigated through simulation and measurement.
