Limited by the time intervals of passing territory of polar-orbiting satellites, it is impossible to uninterruptedly monitor wildfire occurrences in power transmission line corridors by using polar-orbiting satellites. In this paper, a monitoring technique based on the Himawari-8 geostationary meteorological satellite was proposed. Considering the influences of the solar elevation angle, the non-vegetation pixel and the cloud pixel on the identification precision, an adaptive dynamic method was proposed to identify fire-points. This monitoring technique has been applied in a provincial power grid in the southern of China, which realizes 24h uninterrupted monitoring of wildfire occurrences in power transmission line corridors.
