SMS-GOES (Synchronous Meteorological Satellites-Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites) Satellite Position and Data Availability

The Synchronous Meteorological Satellites (SMS-1 and SMS-2) and Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES-1, GOES 2, and GOES-3) all incorporate the Space Environmental Monitor (SEM) subsystem. The SEM subsystem contains a magnetometer, an energetic charged particle sensor, and a soft solar x-ray detector. The data from these sensors are intended for real time use and to provide a long term scientific data base. The purpose of this report is to present in a single, straight-forward format the information on the satellite positions and data availability necessary for the use of this data base.
