The obtained results clearly indicate the positive impact of used design solutions introduced to the cast grate. The first modification, i.e. re-designing of the connection, markedly reduces thermal nodes formed during cooling, while relievers introduced in the outer contour of the grate significantly reduce stresses due to the thermal effect of charge and structure rigidity. These results also justify the need for further optimization of calculations using modern computational techniques (e.g. FEM) to obtain quantitative data which, depending on the operating conditions, can assist the selection of optimal design solution to maximize the service life of the used equipment.
