摘要

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP) set a goal under the NYC Green Infrastructure Plan of managing the first inch (25 mm) of stormwater runoff from at least 10 percent of the impervious surfaces in combined sewer areas of the city with green infrastructure to reduce combined sewer overflows (CSOs). The Edenwald Houses site in the Bronx offered a great opportunity to use city-owned property for this purpose and to enhance an aging public housing area. The project incorporates multiple types of green infrastructure designs to maximize stormwater capture, reuse and flow attenuation to ultimately reduce CSOs. Project construction was completed in the Fall of 2017. This paper will review the engineering behind the recommended green infrastructure practices, project costs, lessons learned and performance to-date of the constructed facilities.
