To study the effects of urban road traffic noise on residents, this study proposes a method that draws the population exposure graph with the fine-scale population and traffic noise distribution and evaluates with the assessment indicators. This method can be divided into three parts: First, the grid-level traffic noise distribution is drawn by using the traffic noise prediction model and the geospatial data including roads and buildings. Second, the fine-scale population distribution is drawn by using the block-level population census statistical data and points of interest (POIs). Finally, by taking into account the traffic noise and population distribution, the assessment indicators for noise population exposure assessment are put forward. With the use of the proposed method, this study conducts an assessment on the population exposure to road traffic noise in Chuihong Residential Area, Foshan, Guangdong Province, China. The odd-and-even license plate rule and heavy size vehicles banning are conducted to reduce the traffic noise in the study region, and the noise reduction effect of the former is better than that of the latter.
