Analysis and Comparison of Airport Noise Metrics

The diversity of aircraft noise evaluation method reflected the complexity of airport noise problem. The weighted equivalent continuous perceived noise level (L_(WECPN)) was used in our country, and the day-night average sound level (L_(dn)) was widely used internationally. The equivalent sound level (L_(eq)) was used as a indoor noise metric in China, which was difficult to compare with the weighted equivalent continuous perceived noise level. In order to solve the standard problem of noise control in airport noise impact area, the connotations of the above three were analyzed. The relationships between L_(WECPN) and the other two metrics were analyzed by the measured data, It was proved that there is a 13dB between L_(WECPN) and L_(dn). The relationships between L_(WECPN) and the corresponding daytime and nighttime equivalent sound level L_(eq) were given. This paper further analyzed the influence of background noise on the evaluations finally.
