Acoustic classification of noise in bathroom of apartment building was discussed through auditory experiment. Supply and drainage noises of toilet and basin in bathroom were considered in this study. The noises were recorded inside and outside of bathroom of upper (own) and lower unit in an apartment building. Auditory experiment was conducted to obtain subjective annoyance of the noise. Stimuli were divided to four groups according to the recording location, which are inside or neighboring room of bathroom, and upper or lower unit. Subjects were asked to rate their annoyance (7 point verbal scale) of the stimuli presented in sound level from 25 and 50 dBA (Z-Aeq) with 5 dB steps. Relations between sound level and annoyance of noise in bathroom, and its difference among noise listening locations were analyzed. Acoustic classification of noise in bathroom of residential building was then discussed with the previous studies.
