Rylar shows promise as a possible CVD tissue replacement. The polymer was degradable, relatively inert and able to achieve higher UTS values than PGS while approaching failure strains of 30-50%. Stress-strain curves were comparable to pericardium and Rylar stiffness was similar to that needed for heart valves (0.5 MPa) and vascular replacement.
