The polymer density and cellular concentration in PEG hydrogels can influence the viability and phenotypic state of DCs. Further work aims to evaluate the hydrogel mesh network, degradability, and presentation of adhesive and/or immunological peptides for their potential to control encapsulated DC phenotype in the context of therapeutic cellular delivery.
