One of the major problems that the field of bioprinting, and more broadly biomanufacturing, currently faces is the lack of materials that are designed specifically for use in bioprinting. As a result, there is a need for novel biomaterials, such as those described here, that are simple to implement in a variety of bioprinter platforms for a variety of tissue types. We believe that our bioink system, and other novel biomaterials, will help advance bioprinting to the point where it will help support commercial biomanufacturing of tissue products.
