This paper investigates fuzzy output feedback control for a class of nonlinear distributed parameter systems that is described by first-order hyperbolic partial differential equations (PDEs). Firstly, a nonlinear hyperbolic PDE model is represented by the polynomial fuzzy PDE model. Based on the parallel distributed compensation technique (PDC), a polynomial output feedback fuzzy controller is then constructed to guarantee exponential stability of closed-loop polynomial fuzzy hyperbolic PDE system. A sufficient condition for existence of such fuzzy controller is presented in terms of sum-of-squares (SOS). Finally, numerical simulation results are provided to illustrate the effectiveness and validity of the proposed results.
