To summarize the inspection campaign, and measure the success rate, several parameters must be evaluated. For Halfwave, it was essential to be able to demonstrate the flexibility of the inspection solution. A variety of coating compositions were penetrated without reconfiguration and re-calibration of the system, reducing duration of the operation by careful preparation of the equipment before mobilization. More vessel hire time was saved simply by the scanning speed itself. On this specific project, scan resolutions of both 2x2 and 3x3 mm were applied, collecting the full wave cycles, which is very time consuming under normal circumstances. Having 4 sensors working in parallel, was a great advantage and reduced the accumulated time per inspection point to approximately 25 - 40 minutes depending on diameter. The design improvements were working according to expectations, and previously inaccessible areas under the piggyback were inspected. The risk-based inspection strategy initiated by Client was deemed successful by the fact that it was possible to bring a previously mothballed pipeline into operation, as all the findings were inside the envelope of the code.
