In this paper, a general solution of the flux-density in ferromagnetic parts of Field-Excited Switched-Flux (FE-SF) machines is proposed. The approach is based on an analytical solution of vector-potential in stator and rotor slots. We demonstrated that a Dirichlet's problem can be set up with special boundary conditions so that the two-dimensional flux-density loci in the soft-magnetic material can be assessed. Extensive comparisons between the analytical model and Finite Element (FE) 2D simulations were provided, validating the approach under different load conditions (no-load and armature reaction field).
