Power system state estimation is an important part of calculations realized in national control centers. A power system state estimation procedure should have the possibly best features from the viewpoint of time of realization, accuracy of results of calculation and sensitivity to errors burdening data to be utilized in estimation process. In the paper, the state estimation for a power system with a phase shifter is considered. One takes into account the case of the state estimation, in which a general model of the phase shifter is used and the case, in which specific information on the phase shifter is taken into consideration, as well. The paper contains results of original investigations of both the mentioned cases. Investigations show that there is essential difference between features of the state- estimation processes in the considered cases.
