Beyond Mining: Theorizing About Processual Phenomena

For decades, process miners have been toiling deep in the event logs of digitized organizations. Through this collective experience, the process mining community has developed a powerful set of tools and a compelling set of use cases for those tools (discovering, monitoring, improving, etc.) In this talk, I want to suggest that some of these same tools may be useful for other entirely different kinds of problems. In particular, recognizing and comparing patterns of action should be useful for theorizing about a wide range of processual phenomena in organizational and social science.
