摘要

Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology has numerous advantages in comparison with other light sources. LEDs are capable to provide specific wavelengths according to crop requirements, enhancing yield without the excessive thermic energy generation of traditional light sources such as metal-halide lamps. With specific wavelengths and extended photoperiods, previous works reported an increase of the photosynthetic rate and stimulation of the nutrient and contaminant uptake in Lemna (Lemna gibba). This plant is a fast-growing macrophyte with high rate biomass duplication, bioaccumulation potential and ability to transform and degrade contaminants. To achieve a lemna phytoremediation multi-layer system, a lightning fixture with the photosynthetic photon flux density requirements was developed.
