A wide beam BeiDou navigation antenna is presented. The 16 metal strips are evenly put around the circularly polarized microstrip antenna. The radiation which metal strips excite can expand the beamwidth and AR beamwidth of the microstrip antenna. The RHCP gain of the antenna is 3.3 dBic in the main direction at 1.561 GHz. The impedance bandwidth (|S11|<−10 dB) of antenna is 109 MHz (1.520 GHz-1.629 GHz). And the 3-dB axial bandwidth is 27 MHz (1.549 GHz-1.576 GHz). In xoz-plane and yoz-plane, the 3-dB beamwidths are 112° and 111°, respectively, and the 3-dB AR beamwidths are 162° and 149°, respectively. Thus, this BeiDou navigation antenna has a wide beam.
