Changes of the external environment and external loads can cause the change of the output power of photovoltaic(PV) cells. In order to improve the efficiency of photovoltaic cells, photovoltaic cells must be operated near the maximum power point. The fuzzy PID controller is designed to achieve maximum power tracking of the photovoltaic cells. The simulation models of output power of photovoltaic cells based on perturbation and observation and fuzzy PID control are built. The simulation results show that the fuzzy PID control has the faster response, better stability and smaller overshoot.
