In this paper, an integral equation-based nonconforming and non-overlapping domain decomposition (DD) method is proposed for solving electromagnetic scattering from thin coated metallic multi-scale objects. In this method, discontinuous vector basis functions are employed to expand the surface electric and magnetic currents flowing across adjacent sub-domain boundaries, and a novel interior penalty term is introduced to weakly enforce the normal continuity of these currents. This method provides an effective DD preconditioner with no need to introduce artificial touching interfaces in sub-domain models. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed scheme.
