In recent years, the number of children requiring special support has increased significantly, and satisfying their supports and education needs has become a critical concern. Many students have been diagnosed with one or more developmental disabilities, such as autism-spectrum disorders, high functioning autism, attention-deficit disorders, hyperactive disorders, and learning disabilities. We have developed an information and communication technology (ICT) system that understands the individual behaviors of children with developmental disabilities. The technology is available to teachers, parents, and supporters. After analyzing the accumulated behavior information, we found sensory hypersensitivity in some students. Indeed, most of the individuals with autism-spectrum disorders exhibited hypersensitivity/hyposensitivity to various types of sensory stimuli, and would benefit from special accommodation. This study proposes a special-support room with an adjusted environment based on the ICT system.
