Wireless sensor network (WSN) is collection of nodes that are spread over a massive region on the network with purpose of sensing and transmitting the packets. One of the most fundamental issue in WSN is coverage. The problem that occurs in WSN is to cover the monitored region. Failure of any nodes in the network may cause the packet loss, which in turn may break the network connectivity resulting into segmentation. Intermediate nodes located between the segments will not be able to deliver the packets to the destination. Because of this, no proper network coverage is been provided and packet loss increases. The basic purpose of this work is to increase network coverage. This is achieved by either increasing the node sensing range or by using the mobile sensors for linearly deployed WSN. The deployment of sensors is simulated on linear deployment. The results show that 10% better performance with respect to network lifetime and almost same for PDR. The work carried out can be significant to implement in applications where there is more possibility of node failure.
