In this paper, a modified-momentum stochastic gradient descent (MMSGD) approach for improving the convergence characteristics of active noise control (ANC) system is proposed. MMSGD strategy accelerates the convergence speed of the ANC system while maintaining the low steady-state error. A new update rule and bounds on the learning rate for ensuring the stable working of the proposed MMSGD based ANC system is also derived. A set of simulations on measured plant responses are performed to demonstrates the improved convergence characteristic of the proposed MMSGD based ANC systems over conventional ANC schemes.
