Exploring Autonomic Sensors Processing in the Internet of Things

Advances in the Internet of Things (IoT) allowed different sources of distributed contextual information, through sensors, to become available to the applications, enabling the creation of more sophisticated models to identify situations of interest. The use of middlewares is highlighted in the literature as a way to handle the distribution of devices in IoT and also to make sensors processing more transparent to applications. Considering this scenario, the objective of this work is the design of an architecture focused on the management and composition of sensors processing flows. This architecture provides situation awareness and autonomous management of context source devices (sensors) to an application in the healthcare area targeted to patients in cardiac rehabilitation.
