In this paper, we have successfully demonstrated error-free transmission of 25 Gb/s data over 2 km legacy OM1 multi-mode fiber (MMF) at 1.55 μm wavelength. The maximum per-channel bit-rate distance product achieved in this experiment is 50Gb/s-km. The performance of the system has been evaluated in terms of extinction ratio (ER), Q-value, estimated bit error rate (BER), and power penalty. The worst-case Extrinsic Ratio (ER) in either of the two polarizations obtained for 25 Gb/s transmission after 2 km of OM1 MMF is equal to 8.6 dB at BER = 10-9.
