Wavelength dependent crosstalk properties in different possible heterogeneous and trench assisted (TA) heterogeneous two core multicore fibers (MCFs) have been analyzed using finite element method (FEM) based FemSIM software and MATLAB, and its performance is compared with that of the homogeneous and TA homogeneous two core MCF. It is observed that with the same core pitch, TA heterogeneous MCFs have lower crosstalk levels and the change in relative crosstalk slope from its parent MCF structure compared to that of the TA homogeneous MCF.
