In this work we propose a model system in which a bioinspired sensory platform responds to cues in the hydrodynamic trail of a source. We model the hydrodynamic trail as a band-limited traveling wave and propose a localized sensing strategy for decoding the information contained therein. Then, we propose a control law whereby the sensory platform reorients in response to local cues contained within the sensory information. We couple this control law with a behavioral kinematic model to test its effectiveness. Finally, we demonstrate the abilities of this sensing strategy and behavioral model in a canonical source-seeking problem, the wake of a pitching foil.
