Conclusions: On the one hand this work discloses that the superparamagnetism of SPIOs as a key feature to affect the composition of protein corona to a large extent, which further alters the biological behaviors of SPIOs, on the other hand we suggested that the effect of SMF on protein corona formation and biological identity of SPIOs should be taken into consideration, especially when scientists use SMF to optimize the applications of SPIOs. We take into account that the phenomenon uncovered in the present study can help researchers to design different multifunctional SPIOs for many potential relevant applications. superparamagnetic iron oxide nanopartilces;
