Conclusions: The alginate/gelatin hydrogel achieves high stability and bioprintability with tunable mechanical properties depending on the formulation. Cancer cells show high viability in these hydrogels and show stiffness and formulation dependent formation of spheroids with different volumes. These hydrogels allow the biofabrication of cell models that can be used to create 3D disease models with high-throughput, low cost, and high reproducibility as a possible alternative to 2D cell culture and small animal models.
