Conclusions: We successfully developed a novel silicate-coated, UBI_(29-41)-functionalized and photo-sensitive TNP@SiO_2-UBI with high biocompatibility to mammalian cells. Under the protection of the silicate shell with moderate thickness, TNP@SiO_2-UBI is more favorable to be applied to treat infection and release its potential without being dissolved by chloride ions before reaching the target.
