Design considerations and effects of class-AB polarization in active filters realized by means of active inductors

Class-AB polarization is usually missing in active filters. An innovative design solution is here described with circuitry details and deeply analyzed. It is based on the use of an active inductor realized with a single active device in class-AB polarization, allowing to achieve at the same time a minimum power consumption and a wide dynamic range. The performance that have been obtained with a hybrid prototype are fully investigated, showing the capability of the proposed solution to be adopted as integrated solution and commercial applications. The match between simulations and measurements is also promising.
