Challenges and advantages of inward turning inlets for ramjet is investigated in this paper. Based on the qualitative and quantitative analysis, the inward turning inlets in ramjet field have following substantial advantages. 1) higher mass airflow capture, 2) shorter compressive length, 3) lower wetted area, 4) lower pressure drag, S) lower skin friction drag. In detail, comparing to two-dimensional classical compression in ramjet, the total pressure recovery of ICFC inward-turning compression increases 28.0%; the compressive length decreases 5%; the wetted area decreases 15.7% and the pressure drag decreases 12.1%. In addition, the different throat Mach number between ramjet and scramjet of inward turning inlet makes the self-starting ability for ramjet facing more difficulty challenge. Furthermore, the inward turning inlets face more difficulty challenge than traditional inlets in ramjet field.
