Oblique detonation wave engine is a well-chosen next generation power system for aircraft that the Mach number level of which is at 10 orders of magnitude, and oblique detonation initiation technology is one of the key technologies of oblique detonation wave engine. This paper presents the process of oblique detonation initiation through a wedge or cone in a supersonic inflow, in which the combustible gas is induced to release heat quickly. The results discover the asymmetric structure of multiple wave systems and the phenomenon of instability that occurs more than once during the process of oblique detonation initiation. The high-speed Schlieren images clearly show the unstable structure of the wave systems of stationary oblique detonation and demonstrate the unstable feature of oblique detonation wave.
