A continuous rotating detonation ramjet model engine is designed and constructed for the Ma4.5/H18.5 km free jet test. Its total length is 660 mm, and the length of the combustor and nozzle is 360 mm. The inner and outer diameters of the combustor are 80 and 120 mm, respectively. Both the hydrogen and ethylene continuous rotating detonation waves are realized successfully by direct-connect tests. The propagation frequencies of hydrogen and ethylene range 5.33-5.85 kHz and 1.87-1.97 kHz, respectively. The free jet test fueled by hydrogen is carried out successfully. The captured air mass flow rate of the inlet is about 1.67 kg/s. The detonation wave propagation frequency is larger than 8.35 kHz, and its rotating velocity is more than 90% of the theoretical CJ value. Positive thrust increase is obtained, and the maximum fuel-based specific impulse is 2510 s with the unoptimized nozzle.
