Kinetics and mechanism of thermal decomposition of substituted triazoles and tetrazoles, containing trinitromethyl group, are studied by manometric and photoelectrocolorimetric methods. Mass-spectrometry and chromatography are also used for analysis of decomposition products. The limiting stage activation parameters are established. It is shown that the thermal stability of trinitromethyl group is determined by the steric effect of azol. Thermal decomposition rate constant and activation energy correlate with steric constant of azole. Thermal decomposition of β-trinitroethylaminotetrazoles occurs heterolytically with the primary dissociation of C-C bond and formation of carbocation and nitroform anion.
