An arterial green-wave band design with tram priority is proposed in this paper. Under the condition of satisfying the demands of trams, this design can generate maximum bandwidth for general vehicles. First, the characteristics of the tram green-wave band and the general vehicle green-wave band is analyzed. The relationships between these two are analyzed to construct the basic nonlinear constraints of the models. Second, the elements of tram systems are adjusted to expand the feasible region of the models. The minimum value of tram green-wave bandwidth is established to satisfy the demands of tram systems. Finally, a case study is presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed design. The results show that the proposed design can satisfy the demands of trams, while making significant improvement for general vehicles.
