The present paper presents the hardware and software structure of a programmable driver for DC micromotors. The driver was designed and built for easy integration into a muti axis motion system. The driver is implemented using an 8-bit RISC microcontroller with high performances, but with a low cost price. The main function of the driver is to generate a PWM signal according to its drive voltage in order to obtain the desired speed for the micromotor. Drive voltage can vary in the range [-10, 10] Vdc, which is actually a duty cycle within the range [0, 1] and reversal of direction. PWM signal is applied to the inputs of an H bridge which allows two quadrant command for the micromotor. To achieve high performances with low cost price, an integrated H bridge with MOS technology was chosen.
