An enhanced virtual cluster embedding strategy with virtualized SDN

Allocating physical resources for virtual cluster is known as virtual cluster embedding problem, which has a very important influence on the performance of virtual cluster and resource utilization of the system. Meanwhile virtual cluster embedding, relative to the virtual network, includes more embedding elements: virtual machine, virtual switch, virtual link, virtual SDN controller and cluster system controller. These components need to be considered comprehensively to adjust the influencing factor weight proportion for enhance virtual cluster embedding. This paper proposes an enhanced virtual cluster embedding strategy, called EVCE, which combines virtual network with SDN to form virtual SDN and coordinates the optimization of network centrality, correlation property and resource fragmentation to achieve the enhanced VCE. According to extensive experiments and the comparison of correlative algorithms, it is obvious that EVCE effectively reduces the network delay, obtains a higher embedding efficiency and, to some extent, improves the revenue/cost ratio and network delay.
