The microwave has long been interested in healing process due to their effect of enhancing the metabolism of tissue and stimulating phagocytic activity. The aim of this article was to apply and develop techniques for wound healing therapies in fish by using low dose microwave which could be able to generate an option and better clinical outcome to fish with treatment limitations. Twenty-four healthy adult Nile Tilapias were used and randomly divided into two groups. Both of them were formed a 1×1 skin wound on both sides of dorsal musculature and then treated with enrofloxacin immersion while only the microwave treatment group was exposed to microwave therapy with a frequency of 2,450 MHz, and a dose of 62 mW/cm2 with 1 Hz pulse for 30 min once per day. Wound healing was evaluated by measuring the percentage of healing, daily healing, and histological parameters. The percentage of healing and daily healing in comparison were similar patterns except a few day after the incision, the control showed a greater significant reduction area. The histological change of microwave group was appearing rapidly entering of cuboidal cell and alignment of basement membrane and mark different in inflammatory cell infiltration. Base on our results, we conclude that the application of microwave can be a usefulness option for wound healing in fish without abnormal behavior, external signs and gross lesions. This study demonstrated the clinical value of fish models in an establishment of a new approach for skin lesion in aquaculture.
