A Study on Applicability of Interactive Design to Furniture Design

With the rapid development of science and technology, material products have been growing in increasing diversity. The current society has entered the cultural and spiritual consumption era. People's product demands have exceeded the boundary of "serviceability", and emphasized more on interactive experiences between humans and products. As a product category, furniture has transformed from the handicraft era to the industrial era and finally to the information era. Furniture design methods have also been imprinted with different era characteristics. Under the background of digital era, interactive design has also been applied to furniture design. It can contribute to scientific analysis and expression of users' life behaviors, and discovery of potential demands behind user behaviors. By doing so, designers can form clear design goals and materialize them into expression forms of furniture, thus creating healthier and better home life experiences.
