For inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR), threedimensional (3D) imaging and bistatic configuration can provide complementary information to monostatic 2D imaging. In this paper, a reconstruction algorithm for 3D ship target based on bistatic ISAR (BiISAR) imaging and interferometry is proposed, the theoretical foundation of which is derived and investigated. The interferometric phases measured from the L-shaped receivers are used to jointly estimate the target's effective rotation vector and complete 3D target reconstruction subsequently. We demonstrate that the BiISAR is a gradient and compressive version of the projection of the target on the range-Doppler plane. Finally, numerical simulations are provided to evaluate the performance and the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
