On one hand, the source of electromagnetic radiated emissions (RE) of a given Device Under Test (DUT) can be difficult to be detected only by doing traditional RE standard MIL-STD-461 test. In certain cases, e.g. in aerospace applications, is fundamental to obtain the root cause and implement mitigation actions, fast enough, like additional shielding where the leakage is detected, in order not to have impact on mission schedule. Sniff test (ST) is a tool which complements RE test in this aspect. On the other hand, under certain conditions RE level can be extrapolated from ST as it is presented in an example of interest. A given complete example is included in which RE levels are obtained by traditional RE method and ST.
