The dynamic response analysis of a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) based grid-connected wind farm under variable wind speed (m/s) is carried out in this paper. Wind energy is a very attractive form of renewable energy resource due to its very little environmental impacts while generating electricity in comparison to other traditional energy resources. Most of the modern power utilities prefer doubly-fed induaction generator (DFIG) based wind power plant due to its numerous advantages. The efficient performance of the power electronics based back-to-back converter chain in the rotor circuit has made the DFIG capable to operate with wide variation of wind speed too. Sometimes, wind speed changes rapidly during a very short interval of time, known as `wind gust'. So, these wind gusts can appear suddenly and could alter the output power harnessed from wind farms and also many other associated parameters. The transient and steady-state response of the DFIG wind generator under different varying wind speed profile is simulated and observed here. MATLAB/Simulink has been used as a tool here for this simulation study. Performance of the grid-connected DFIG wind farm for a particular day over the hours has also been observed considering a specific location.
