Study on optimal pressure tapping position of large diameter vortex flowmeter

Vortex flowmeter was firstly applied in industry control in late 1960s and widely used to take place of traditional flowmeters very soon. Considering the fact that research on large diameter vortex flowmeter is far behind requirement of industrial application, the author has proposed to conduct simulation on triangular column vortex 350mm diameter flowmeter based on the computational fluid dynamics theory. In flow field simulation water and air as transmitting medium has been analyzed and compared in affection of frequency and signal measurement. To determine the optimal pressure tapping position of 350mm diameter vortex flowmeter, check points have been set in various positions to obtain data of signal strength and signal to noise ratio under different flowing velocity. The results have proved that the optimal pressure tapping position should be 1.0 times of cut-off face from the vortex generating body.
