ENTERPRISE RISK MANAGEMENT IN THE EYES OF ISO 21504:2015 GUIDANCE FOR PROJECT PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT

Project portfolio management looks to identify and to execute the right projects in the regard of the strategic objective of a company or an institution. The fulfilling of strategic objectives plays an important part in that discipline. But unforeseen major events can harm the strategy and even the survival of a company. In 2015 the "ISO 21504:2015 Project, programme, portfolio management - guidance for portfolio management" was published. The main question was how to execute and manage the right projects. In some parts in this standard risk management plays an important role. The same time the approach of enterprise risk management (ERM) deals with the activities o identify and manage major risks that can harm the company's growth and development. The question that will be raised in the paper is how the aspects of risk management towards ERM can be found in the ISO21504:2015 standard. This paper gives an overview on: 1. How issues of strategic risk and enterprise risk management are linked in the ISO standard 21504 2. that the strategic objectives and risk tolerance are the combining factors.
