摘要

JAXA conducts programs called "One Day Aerospace Journalist" and "JAXA Aerospace School" (herein referred to as Aerospace Journalist and Aerospace School, respectively) for children in secondary education as a part of its mission to use space as a means to learn. Participants are selected by a short 400 word essay. In these programs, they are divided on site into teams and work together to come up with a theme for their mission and divide the roles and responsibilities among themselves. The purpose of these programs is to raise human resources to build a better future. We seek to accomplish this by improving the consciousness of teenagers about space and the earth's environment with the three precious spirits which are "curiosity", "adventurous spirit," and "craftsmanship." The goal is not to simply show children a rocket launch or the facilities, but to provide them with an opportunity that will help them build a connection with their peers and with professionals. We hope this experience will help the children think about their future career paths and we strive to actively help them realize their own potential. Furthermore, JAXA actively assists the children who participate in our programs to present their experiences to their local communities (schools, organizations, etc.). Most of the participants are very outgoing and have high aspirations. We have learned that such aspirations are highly transmittable and the report of one participant can positively stimulate hundreds of people. In this paper, JAXA provides specific examples, methods and feedback from these programs. We will continue our efforts to improve them and our space education activities.
