CPM Really Gets Interesting When You Consider Activity Status

An activity without status is just a plan. The calculations involving the Critical Path Method (CPM) do not really get interesting until one considers the nature and effect of applying status to that activity. This paper dissects the very nature of status into its components and details the interaction of its parts. The 'hidden' events necessary for an actual start are discussed. The different uses for status are addressed. To be accurate and useable for forecasting, status must follow rules and be defined in such as way as to be reliably reproducible by different parties. CPM scheduling really gets interesting when you consider activity status.
